Earth Listening

Sussex Day Retreat

Sunday 12th October

Join Magic Trio Silvija, Verity and Garwyn for their seasonal day retreats that will transport you to wild places, reminding you of the unhurried rhythm of nature.

The Earth Whispers, When We Learn to Listen

In the fast-paced modern world, the Earth offers us a chance to reconnect with something far older—whispering timeless truths. Many of today's struggles stem from a separation from the land, from ourselves and from each other. Coming together in this way literally puts us back together, reminding us of our intuitive, primal and natural senses. By slowing to an unhurried rhythm, we honour all the parts of ourselves that rarely have a chance to understand or celebrate amid the madness of modern daily life.

What  to Expect

Space to slow down, to root & ready ourselves for the decent!

Autumn is a time of returning; to school, to schedules, and often to ourselves. As the nights fold in, we are invited inward too. From the Equinox, the outward exuberance of summer begins to soften, making way for stillness. Just as Mother Nature draws her energy back to the Earth, towards the roots, we too bed into hearth and home.

This retreat invites you to clear the way: to create new rituals that support your passage into the darker half of the year. Space for assimilation and conscious withdrawal—an invitation to reconnect with your inner world, to return to ceremony, ritual and routine.

Held in the stunning Sussex countryside, our day will unfold in the Living landscape of Hackhurst Farm—a sacred space to attune to the season with immersive movement, mindful practice, sound and ritual sauna.

The Details

How the Day Will Unfold

We will open our circle around the central fire, to take one another in and to draw a collective breath with the land. Here, where warm breath meets the cool autumnal air, the rich scent of Earth rises to remind us to soften.

Our morning begins with a mindful walk to the woodland for Qigong beneath crisp, falling leaves, slow, fluid movement to help us arrive more fully in our animal bodies. From here, we step into a space of quiet reflection with Forest Bathing, a gentle listening ritual that opens our senses and offers time to be with the subtle shifts of the season. Lunch will be shared back at base, with a warming bowl around the central fire, before the afternoon deepens with a Sound Bath, inviting further descent into stillness. Carried by vibration, we are softened, stilled and held, preparing the body for the final rite of the day.To close, we gather for a ritual sauna immersion, a sacred space of heat, scent and touch, guided by seasonal plant allies.

This is a day of soft descent, of listening deeply, of preparing together and alone for the months to come, not with resistance but with reverence.

Retreat Venue

Taking its name from the Old English Hackhyrst—a gateway to the wood—Hackhurst Farm honours the land’s ancient roots and traditions. This connection lives on through those who steward it today, in respectful relationship with nature to shape a regenerative future.

Tucked in the heart of East Sussex, Hackhurst Farm is a sanctuary for healing, growth and belonging. The sensitively restored Barn, and out buildings are surrounded by rich-wildflower grasslands and peaceful woodlands, offers a serene retreat just a short journey from Brighton or London. With the addition of the Siberian sauna and the energy of the landscape, it provides a nurturing environment for personal restoration and community connection.

More than a retreat venue, Hackhurst is a living vision of shared land. Through collaborations and gatherings, it helps reweave a sense of belonging—where the land itself becomes part of the healing.

  • ‘All these aspects helped us to be a close knit community, sharing this fabulous experience. The panoramic mountains, sunrises & sets, as well as the gorgeous vegetarian cuisine, created a very beautiful experience, one I will always treasure.

I had a notebook, logging our activities, my thoughts & emotions; I have so many `take away`s` from my time at Mas Vilalte - I am still processing it all, really.

Massive thank you, Verity & Garwyn.`

  • ‘There is no need to prove that healing is to be found in nature, light, companionship, in awe with reverence, gratitude and faith.

And it wouldn't have happened without the tender loving care of Verity and Garwyn in the paradise that is the Pyrenees where a retreat means just that- a quiet or secluded place in which one can rest and relax, withdrawing for a time. Forever grateful!’

  • The world is so loud. Slow down. Close your mouth. And just listen.

Mother Earth is always speaking to us.
    Tune in 📻

With deepest gratitude to Verity, Garwyn & Silvija or helping me to open my ears!
